Race Calendar Of Events

Whether you're a visitor or a resident, a Florida Keys marathon is one of the more popular things to participate in or watch.

Blessed with sunshine, warm weather, and incredible scenery, the Florida Keys is the perfect place to get out and run, walk, or simply get from A to B, any way you can.

There are many different local Florida races and events that are held throughout the Keys.

In fact, Key West FL is somewhat of a hot bed when it comes to Florida Keys race events held throughout the year.

They are sponsored by different local groups and clubs, often with the purpose of raising funds for worthwhile causes and charities.

Below is a list of some of the more popular Florida Keys races that have become anticipated annual Florida Keys events and attractions.

Top Florida Keys Races and Marathons

Since the area is conducive for outdoor activities, it's obvious there would be numerous Florida Keys races scheduled throughout the year. Arranged by date, here's just some of the more popular events you may want to enter, volunteer for, or simply enjoy as a spectator.


Florida Keys Ragnar Relay

Unfortunately late in 2015, Monroe County, for various reasons declined to issue Ragnar's permit for the 2016 Ragnar Relay race.

There is hope that with modifications by Ragnar, that the race will be held in the Florida Keys sometime in the future. However to do so, it will be necessary to host the Ragnar Relay at a time of year when tourism in the Florida Keys is not at it's peak.

In the world of races, the Ragnar Relay was a newer, crazy, and very popular Florida Keys marathon. The original Florida Keys Ragnar Relay started in Miami on a Friday and continued non-stop until the entrants reach Key West FL 199 miles later sometime on Saturday.

This event is not an actual race to the finish line, it's based upon best time, and it's a group event, with each participant running different legs of the relay.

The 2016 Ragnar Relay Florida Keys event was scheduled for February 5 - 6, 2016 before it's cancellation by the County and Ragnar.


Sombrero Beach Run Marathon Florida

Sombrero Beach Run is another Florida Keys race that provides a lot of excitement and the expected dates for 2023 are January 20 - 22.

Sombrero Beach Run is broken down into different events so it has something for everyone. You can participate in the 15K Challenge, the 10K Run, the 5K Walk/Run and the Kids Fun Run.

The charitable event benefits KAIR (Keys Area Interdenominational Resources) and begins Friday night with preregistration taking place at Sombrero Beach.

The next day, Florida race entrants are treated to a variety of vendors plying various food items, drinks, and souvenirs, all topped off with good music.

Prizes are awarded, and afterward, race entrants and guests are invited to stay and enjoy the wonderful amenities beautiful Sombrero beach has to offer.

Seven Mile Bridge Run

Established in 1982, the Seven Mile Bridge Run is perhaps the longest standing, and most famous of the Florida Keys races.

A testament to the fine Florida weather is that a major snag didn't develop until the race's 31st season. The morning of Saturday, April 21, 2012, the people in the Florida Keys were treated to strong thunderstorms and heavy rain, forcing officials to cancel the much anticipated 7 MB Run race.

The 2023 Seven Mile Bridge Run date is tentatively set for Saturday, April 1 providing mother nature concurs. Registration is online only with information available at the official Seven Mile Bridge Run website.


Florida Keys Marathon - The Keys100

If you're an avid runner, an exciting Florida Keys marathon you'll want to check out is the Keys100. Proceeds from this event go to help with prostate cancer research, and to support the Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys.

This is also a Florida Keys marathon with a twist. It can be run individually or as a team of 6, with each individual of the team taking a different leg of the relay.

This Florida race is also broken down into two distance increments. The 100K race starts in Key Largo, the 50K race starts in Marathon Florida, and everyone ends up at Smathers Beach in Key West.

The 2023 Keys100 Marathon race is scheduled for May 20 - 21.


Key Largo Bridge Run

The date for the November 2023 Key Largo Bridge Run have yet to be determined but this is a race running enthusiasts definitely want to participate in.

The highly anticipated First State Bank Key Largo Bridge Run takes place on the beautiful Jewfish Creek Bridge that leads you into Key Largo, the first stop in the Florida Keys.

The Key Largo Bridge Run is a 5K Walk/Run that takes place over an 18 mile stretch.

For this Florida Keys marathon, you can get more information at the First State Bank Key Largo Bridge Run website.

Starting point for the race is at Gilbert's Resort Access Road, 107900 Overseas Highway, Key Largo with the finish line being at Rowell's Waterfront Park, 104550 Overseas Highway.

That evening, after the marathon, participants and attendees can join in the planned post-race festivities at Gilbert's Resort.

Due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances, race management always reserves the right to postpone, cancel or change the event and times and no refunds will be given under any circumstance. The entry fee is for the registered participant only, and cannot be transferred, deferred or refunded.

Also for the safety and comfort of all attendees and participants, pets, skateboards and rollerblades are not allowed on the race course.





A Florida Keys marathon is a lot of wholesome, good fun. It's a chance to be with others who enjoy the sport as much as you do. It's also an opportunity to help worthwhile local charities.

Of course, one of the biggest perks is that you're able to enjoy these fun Florida activities in one of the most beautiful places on earth - the Florida Keys.
