Florida Keys golf is almost a misnomer in that this grouping of words simply don't pair as well together as other words do.
With Florida Keys real estate being at a premium, the few courses that have been developed are private.
To enjoy the privileges at these golf courses, you either have to be a Member, or golf with one.
For most people on a Florida Keys vacation, the odds of knowing someone with a golf membership is equivalent to winning the lottery or being struck by lightening.
In the same breath, it's not relevant to list private courses here, because if you're lucky enough to know someone with a membership, they already have that information for you.
This narrows your possibilities down to the grand total of 3 courses. One is a "full size" golf course, one is a small 9 hole golf course, and the third is a miniature putt putt golf course.
If you're serious about golf, and happen to be in the Key West FL area, then you'll want to plan on spending some time at the Key West Golf Club.

This 18 hole Key West golf course is open to the public year round. Located just over the bridge from Key West on Stock Island, this course is nicely done. However, due to the limited availability of land, the course is more closely knit than you would normally expect from an 18 hole course.

The lack of space means the course is only 6,500 yards. The fact that the holes are closer together makes it a relatively relaxing course, with the exception of the tricky and often frustrating Mangrove Hole.
In 2011 the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce hosted a $1,000,000+ tournament at this beautiful Key West golf course.
The event involved a 4 person scramble format using half the combined handicaps. Challengers competed for the $1,000,000 specialty shot, the top $10,000 hole-in-one shot, and a $5,000 prize for the 60' putt specialty shot.
Other prizes at this Florida Keys golf course included $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $300 for third place.
Just north in the Marathon Florida area is a small, but nice 9 hole golf course.

People
who are passionate about golf are definitely in the right State. Florida after all is one of the premier golfing destinations and for
good reason. However, there's a saying that applies to this situation.
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do."
You're in the Florida Keys, put down those golf clubs, and go fishing, snorkeling and diving and enjoy going "native" for a while!
