Welcome to Bahia Honda Park!A “recreational treasure” is how local “Conchs” refer to Bahia Honda Park. Last year, nearly 500,000 visitors to the park apparently agreed, especially in the winter months. Bahia Honda State Park has one of the best beaches in the Florida Keys, or anywhere, for that matter—in 1992, Dr. Stephen Leatherman, coastal geologist who prepares the widely-followed annual “best beaches” list, selected Bahia Honda as America’s Best Beach. With frontage on both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, the park's recreational choices are nearly endless: among them are snorkeling, kayaking (tours and kayak rentals available at the park), bicycling, swimming and fishing. And, of course, that perennial favorite, sunning—bicycles, fishing rods and beach chairs can also be rented through the park concession.
