State Parks and Wildlife Care Facilities Provide Marathon Tours

Without Marathon tours, no Florida Keys vacation would be complete. Try to include some of the following Marathon eco tour activities into your holiday plans.

Situated in the middle of paradise, Marathon FL is known for it's natural beauty, and slower pace.

It's almost impossible to not be at one with nature with the different community and state parks and their spectacular Florida Keys beaches.

At Long Key State Park, eco tourists can go on self-guided kayaking trips, enjoy nature walks and bird watching opportunities.

There's also various Ranger Programs offered throughout the year that vary from guided trail walks, to interpretive talks, snorkeling to birdwatching programs.

Each day there's also a guided narrative walk along the Golden Orb trail which gives eco tourists an opportunity to observe and learn about the Florida flora and fauna on their Marathon tours.

Curry Hammock State Park is a beach vacation favorite. This eco tour destination is also popular for it's hiking and biking trails which allow visitors a chance to see the native plant and Florida wildlife.

Throughout the year, on different days there are also Ranger guided programs that range from educational beach and nature walks, to kayak tours.

In Marathon FL there's also Coco Plum Beach and spectacular Sombrero Beach. Both are ideal eco tourist locations for sea turtle nest watching between April and October.

If you find a turtle nest, it's important that you know not to disturb it. If the sea turtle nest isn't marked, you'll want to alert the authorities at the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, 1-888-404-FWCC. On your eco trips, should you encounter a sick, injured, even dead sea turtle, call the same number or the Marine Patrol at 1-800-DIAL FMP.

Later in the season, not only may you discover sea turtle nests, you may be lucky enough to witness the tiny sea turtle hatchlings as they emerge from their shells. They then begin their long, slow trek to the welcoming ocean.

Other popular eco tourist activities include Florida Keys snorkeling, and birdwatching at these Florida beaches and state parks.

Marathon Keys is an area where you have several organizations dedicated to aiding injured Florida wildlife. You'll want to include Marathon tours at these different facilities into your plans. Not only does your visit help support these worthwhile organizations, you'll gain valuable insight into the dangers that face these different threatened species. Guided educational tours as well as self guided nature walks are available at these centers.
